Global Crossroads: Redefining Spain in the 21st Century

The Department of Spanish of The University of Auckland is convening its second interdisciplinary conference, Global Crossroads: Redefining Spain in the 21st Century, to be held at The University of Auckland from 11 to 14 April 2012.
The conference proposes to offer a framework for debate on contemporary representations of the cultural and political developments that have taken place in recent decades and which define Spain today both internally and globally.
The main proposed topic areas include: Local-global perspectives; Transatlantic, Transpacific and European connections; Remapping Spain; Politics of Memory; Rethinking the past: 1992 20 years on; Multiculturalism; Neoliberalism and neocolonialism; Spain and the global society of the spectacle; Cultural industries in the global age; Popular culture; Language and Identity; Global Hispanism; Technology and cultural identities in the Information Age.
Languages of conference: Spanish and English
